POSITION OVERVIEW:

ATDynamics is seeking an exceptional product development engineer with 3-10+ years of mechanical engineering experience.  The candidate will lead the design, prototyping, testing, and commercialization of high-profile, fuel-saving aerodynamic components for the freight transportation industry.  Candidate must have proven hands-on mechanical engineering experience as well as the ability to lead a growing product development team.  Experience in trucking/automotive/heavy equipment or aerospace industries is a strong plus.  Candidate must also have the interest and ability to rapidly build expertise in vehicle aerodynamics or past experience with aerodynamics/fluid dynamics.  This leadership position will require strong interpersonal, presentation, and writing skills and will require frequent communication with major customers testing and using company products.

COMPENSATION:

LOCATION:

Company headquarters in South San Francisco, CA.  Ability to travel as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Lead new product development initiatives from product conceptualization to production
• Assist in current product line improvement/customization priorities in partnership with engineering team, management, and transportation industry customers
• Perform prototype fabrication and assembly activities in R&D center and in field
• Prepare robust engineering drawings (SolidWorks CAD), conduct material evaluation and source all components
• Interact with fleet customers throughout design process to best respond to Voice of Customer
• Oversee wind tunnel and on-road testing conducted with third-party partners
• Prepare drawings/concepts as required for Company patent filings
• Strong attention to detail and desire to work in demanding face-paced, start-up environment

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in mechanical and/or aerospace engineering
• Excellent track record in product engineering – from concept to commercialization
• Fluid dynamics and/or electrical engineering/control systems experience a strong plus
• Experience with hands-on prototype fabrication projects required, including familiarity with variety of hand tools and machine shop equipment
• Experience with SolidWorks (2000+ hours), FEA software packages and Microsoft Office Suite is required.  Experience with CFD packages is a plus
