Advanced Transit Dynamics, Inc. (ATDynamics) is a fast-growing CleanTech start-up company working to build a more efficient and sustainable freight transportation industry.  Founded in 2006, the company raised awareness throughout North America of the $2 Billion annual fuel saving opportunity of reducing aerodynamic drag at the rear of long-haul tractor-trailers.  The company now sells the first commercially successful rear-drag aerodynamic technology for semi-trailers, the TrailerTail®, and is rapidly expanding its product line and impact on the transportation industry.  ATDynamics has received numerous awards for its high profile TrailerTail® technology and now, among other projects, is a sub-recipient of a $40M Department of Energy “SuperTruck” project to re-design tractor-trailers to be 50% more efficient than any currently available vehicles on the road.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

ATDynamics is seeking an exceptional engineering intern to assist in the manufacturing and design of our aerodynamic, fuel-saving products.  Intern will maintain managerial responsibilities over the production process while focusing on increased efficiency.

JOB TITLE:

Engineering Intern

LOCATION:

Company headquarters in South San Francisco, CA.  Ability to travel as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Work with shop technicians to streamline the manufacturing and production processes of the TrailerTail®
• Design jigs, tooling, and other systems to improve production efficiency and accuracy
• Work closely with Engineering and Fulfillment teams to analyze work flow and identify areas of improvement
• Assist Engineering team with additional product development tasks
• Strong attention to detail and desire to work in demanding face-paced, start-up environment

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate-level studies
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
• Experience with basic hand tools and comfort in working shop environment
• Background in mechanical engineering and working knowledge of SolidWorks is a plus
• Experience with hands-on prototype fabrication projects required, including familiarity with variety of hand tools and machine shop equipment
