R&D Mechanical Engineering Internship

Position Overview: Ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background in mechanical design and prototype fabrication, with the ability to work with a team of mechanical engineers to generate product ideas and then take ideas from concept to large-scale production. Candidates with interest or experience in the trucking, automotive, aerospace or manufacturing sectors are preferred.

Candidate will support complex new product development efforts by executing engineering tasks including research, design, prototyping, and validation as well as working with component vendors and contract manufacturers. This candidate must have a desire to work in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced start-up environment and play a crucial role in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and oil dependency.

Job Title: R&D Mechanical Engineer Internship

Compensation: Base salary plus bonus plus equity package based on experience.

Location: Company headquarters and prototyping facility inSouth San Francisco, CA.

Job Requirements:

• Design and develop expanding product line in partnership with engineering team, management and transportation industry customers.
• Complete component and system level design using Solidworks CAD
• Conduct material evaluation and selection for all components
• Identify sources for custom, as well as off-the-shelf, parts
• Perform prototype fabrication and assembly activities
• Conduct failure analysis of prototype designs and incorporate findings into new designs
• Document and research design progression to maintain patent portfolio of company
• Interact with diverse stakeholders: trucking fleet maintenance personnel, government agencies
and investors

Desired Experience:

• Bachelor or Master’s Degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
• Prior experience with hands-on fabrication using hand tools and machine shop equipment
• Strong analytical and computational skills in machine design and tolerance analysis
• Background in developing original designs using CAD software
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

Software Requirements:

• Experience with SolidWorks, CosmoWorks (FEA) and Microsoft Office Suite

Customer Relations Internship: Winter 2009

Position Overview:

Ideal candidate will be driven to improve their sales, marketing and strategic planning skills. Position involves 75% inside sales coordination and 25% special projects with the CEO. The candidate will act as the sole inside sales coordinator to support the VP Sales and will help to manage all aspects of customer relations from generating leads to coordinating order fulfillment. In addition, candidate will at times be asked to contribute to various business development and operations projects within the company. This candidate must have a desire to work in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced start-up environment and play a crucial role in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and oil dependency.

Full-time internship position is available immediately at company headquarters in South San Francisco, CA.

Job Title: Clean-Tech Internship

Timeframe: Winter / Spring 2009 (3 Months - With possible full-time hiring opportunites)

Location: Company headquarters and prototyping facility are in South San Francisco, CA. 

Compensation: Depends on experience

Job Requirements:

• Enthusiasm to engage in direct customer contact from initiation
• Critical contribution to development of company’s sales fulfillment systems
• Directly support the VP Sales and CEO on sales, business and operations projects
• Handle multiple projects and tasks at various stages in a thorough and organized manner
• Interact with diverse stakeholders: trucking company management, fleet maintenance
personnel, government agencies and investors

Desired Experience:

• Strong verbal, written, and presentation communications skills
• Strategic, critical thinker with a customer-friendly attitude
• Excellent organizational skills and comfort with multi-tasking

Software Requirements:

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with CRM systems such as ACT! Is a plus
